A multi-generational activity where everyone can get involved with Social Justice work...
UUCA benefits from an all-congregation activity that would include our young children, youth, and adults. Something that would appeal to many groups within UUCA - LGBTQ, children's ministry, healthcare, hunger work, veteran's care... This is a way that UUCA can come together, be in fellowship, reach out to others, and teach our own children the value of 'doing' by actually... doing.
In designing the Chalice Challenge, it made sense to also support our own community, just as we are supporting our partner organizations. The social justice work of UUCA is important in Atlanta and throughout the southeast, so just like many people know about supporting Girl Scouts with cookies, Boy Scouts with popcorn, swim teams and schools.... we can be a part of supporting the valuable mission of our own place, too.
And, the fundraising of the Chalice Challenge is an important part of UUCA's health. Participants can use an easy online portal to ask friends and family to support them in this "service-a-thon" type event, or can donate a flat amount themselves to be sure we cover the cost of the supplies for the projects we do. Either way, the fundraising piece of the Chalice Challenge is critical to its success.
The Chalice Challenge commits to:

The Chalice Challenge commits to:
- Be welcoming for all ages and abilities in UUCA so that we can work and have fun TOGETHER as a congregation.
- Remind us to live our Mission to “... to foster a community of faith that encourages and supports our individual spiritual quests out of which we act together for social justice.”
- Support Atlanta area organizations doing direct outreach, good-for-the-world work.
- Raise funds for the good works and Mission of our own UUCA.
